Not only dogs but also many rare animals and plants cavort in the Steller Heide.
It is a fauna-flora-habitat area and therefore part of the European system of protected areas, Natura 2000. It will therefore shortly be declared the “Steller Heide” landscape protection area, as all FFH areas in the Diepholz district must be transposed into national law according to EU requirements. The ordinances of the protected areas will be adapted to the Habitats Directive. The HB riot police used to practice here. Info from the net
