The Bismarck Tower on Bad Kissinger Sinnberg was started in 1914 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Kreis from the local Bismarck Tower Association under the chairmanship of its founder, the pharmacist Oscar Ihl. This association favored Bismarck and the empire and stood in certain competition to the Wittelsbacher association, which regarded Bavaria as a sovereign kingdom even after the founding of the empire and built the Wittelsbach tower in 1907.
The architect of the tower, Wilhelm Kreis, had previously designed various Bismarck towers. According to his "Götterdämmerung" type design, which was created in 1899, 47 towers were constructed with only minor deviations. The Bad Kissinger Bismarck Tower was built according to a new, individual design.
The start of the First World War prevented the completion of the construction work. The topping-out ceremony was not celebrated until December 2, 1926, supported by the movement for the completion of the tower, chaired by spa director Wolfgang Singer. The outer completion, delayed by the Great Depression, lasted until 1930. In 1934, Wolfgang Singer created a serpentine path leading to the tower.
During the Second World War, the tower was used for airspace observation. It wasn't until 1985 that the interior was started. The tower was opened to the public on June 21, 1986. Stairs, toilets and a viewing platform were installed.
