The Skywalk Allgäu Baumwipfelpfad, also known as Waldwelt Skywalk Allgäu, is a unique treetop walk and nature adventure park located in Scheidegg, Germany. Perched at an elevation of 926 meters in the picturesque Bavarian Westallgäu region, this viewpoint offers an unparalleled perspective of the surrounding landscape, extending towards the Alps and Lake Constance. It stands out as a family-friendly destination, blending natural exploration with accessible design.

Visitors consistently rave about the breathtaking panoramic views that unfold from the 40-meter-high observation tower, stretching across the Allgäu region to the distant peaks of the Alps and the shimmering expanse of Lake Constance. The sensation of walking through the forest canopy on the 540-meter-long suspension bridge, which gently sways with the wind and foot traffic, is a truly memorable experience. Many appreciate the blend of adventure and tranquility, making it a popular spot for both active exploration and serene contemplation.

Before your visit, it's helpful to know that the treetop path, designed as a suspension bridge, can sway slightly, especially when children are running or on windy days. For those with a head for heights, the open risers of the access stairs might feel exposed, but a convenient glass elevator provides a barrier-free alternative directly to the top. Current prices (as of 2023) are €14.50 for adults and €10.50 for children over 1 meter, with children under 1 meter entering free. The park generally operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in summer and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in winter, so checking the Skywalk Allgäu Baumwipfelpfad opening hours is advisable.

The Skywalk Allgäu is a fantastic destination year-round, offering distinct experiences in every season. Beyond the main treetop walk, the park features a variety of activities suitable for all ages, including two nature experience trails, a 90-meter-long barefoot path, a skill course, and a large adventure playground with water and mud play areas. The tube slide offers a fun and quick descent from the treetop path, adding an element of excitement for younger visitors and the young at heart. This makes it an ideal spot for families looking for things to do with kids in the Allgäu.

Stepping onto the treetop path, you'll find yourself immersed in the crowns of over 34 different tree species, primarily silver firs, offering a unique bird's eye view of the forest ecosystem. The impressive engineering of the suspension bridge, with its steel masts and cables, allows for a gentle movement that mimics the natural sway of the trees. For those seeking an extra thrill, elements like wooden planks and "elephant feet" provide alternative crossings. The park's commitment to accessibility means that the Skywalk Allgäu Baumwipfelpfad is wheelchair accessible, ensuring everyone can enjoy this natural wonder.

Whether you're interested in a leisurely stroll among the treetops, exploring the various ground-level attractions, or simply soaking in the expansive views, there are many ways to enjoy this unique destination. Hiking

Information for those with a head for heights:
The paths through the trees are not elevated but are suspended rope structures. This causes vibrations from visitors and the wind. As long as you are moving, you hardly notice this. When standing, however, you can clearly see the swaying, and children running around making this even worse.
You can already notice this on the access stairs, which lead up to 26 meters above the ground without a single support, while you can see through the open risers.
Alternatively, you can also get to the top of the tower by elevator!

    Hiking

40 meters above the ground, you can experience the world from a bird's eye view, with a wonderful panoramic view of the Alps and the Lake Constance region. If you want, you can walk over the wobbly bridge at a height of 15 meters and whizz down the tube slide back to the forest floor. There is an obstacle course for young people and adults, a barefoot path and a large adventure playground - no one will get bored here. More information at: skywalk-allgaeu.de.
