The late classicist town hall was built in the style of the architect Christian Frederik Hansen 1826 - 1828. On September 15, 1846, the poet Theodor Strom was married to his cousin Constanze Esmarch, daughter of the Mayor of Segeberg, in the large ballroom on the first floor above the entrance door.

The historic town hall was inaugurated in 1828. Theodor Strom was married to his cousin in the ballroom on the first floor in 1846. The small square in front of the town hall was Segeberger's market square in the Middle Ages. There was even a Roland figure here, as a sign of market law.

On the first floor of the historical part of the town hall there is a permanent exhibition with works by the painter Professor Karl Storch d. Ä. The modern town hall extension, inaugurated in 1997, was designed by Prof. Diethelm Hoffmann.
