Take as a starting point the monastery. From here you can start smaller and longer tours through the monastery forest. The Luccaburg is in the middle of the monastery forest.

The Luccaburg was an early medieval low castle near Loccum. The tower hill castle of the counts of Lucca from 11./12. Century is recognizable as a mighty, round mound. Parts of the 2 m wide curtain wall have been preserved. Around 1113 and 1130, a Count Burchard Lucca is mentioned in a document. His daughter Beatrice von Lucca married Count Wilbrand von Hallermund, who became his successor and heir. He donated 1163 Cistercian monks the surrounding land to found the monastery Loccums.

Mostly a very quiet and historic place that invites you to linger. Take a break on the 3 meter high castle hill and let your gaze wander over the meadows.
