The water is collected in a pond, stored here and, during the mill operation, passed over the taller wooden barge (inlet) to the shafts of the overshot mill wheel (from above). Depending on the position of the inlet on the barge, the rotation of the mill wheel and thus the speed of the mill stone can be regulated.
At the same time, the Benz Mill is a popular excursion destination with a rustic snack bar in the courtyard building with numerous offers for groups such as B. class reunions, club or company trips, etc.

The history of the Benzmühlenhof goes back to around 1550 and, together with the Günsberghof, is one of the oldest farms in Furschenbach.
For around 200 years, the Benz mill has borne the name Benz, which used to be derived from the name Pens. The Benzmühlenhof is the parent company of countless descendants, such as the Jägerhof-Benz in the neighborhood or the Benz mill in Unterwasser.
About 170 years ago, the 28 hectare farm was divided between two brothers, each with 14 hectares. The water mill built at this time was used by both farms to produce flour, which was then processed into bread in the small bakehouses on the farms
