First mentioned in 1326 as. 1348 is called Johanne Speden van Langenuelt. In 1356 it is mentioned as a fiefdom of the Counts of Holland. In 1370 it was converted into a permanent house for the first time. In 1378 the house was offered to the Duke of Jülich-Geldern, Wilhelm, as an open house. In gratitude for this, Goswin Spede was promoted to Drost on the Landesburg in Geldern, as well as to the magistrate in Straelen. In 1452 Johan Spede inherited the house, in 1488 Cornelia Spede is named as the owner. In 1532 the estate passed to Gaert von Erp called Warrenberg. In the 16th century, there is also talk of the Langenfeld manor. The large coat of arms stone is from this time. It shows Johan Erp (Andreaskreuz) and his Gemalin Uland von Diepenbroich (crossed swords).
