The mill gate in the middle of the city center of Bad Driburg is reminiscent of one of the oldest mills in the city. Since 2019, an adventure playground has been attracting families to the forecourt of the old mill.

At this point on the Kesselbach outside the city wall at the Lower Gate was one of the city's seven mills, the "Piepsmühle" or "Heckersche Mühle", named after its former owners. It was one of the oldest mills in Bad Driburg, whose mill operations ceased in 1937.

As part of the city center renovation in the 1970s, the mill and residential building disappeared. The mill wheel, built by the city of Bad Driburg in 1984, is integrated into the reconstruction of a section of the medieval city wall and is reminiscent of the former mill.
