Bridge Towers of the Friedrich Ebert Bridge (Ruhrort)

What used to be a compl. bridge included-

For centuries, watchtowers, defensive towers and customs towers were placed at the end of a bridge - if this was important for long-distance traffic. In peacetime they served on the one hand as striking landmarks for travelers and on the other hand as barriers where the bridge toll was levied. That was also the case with these bridge towers, which were built between 1904 and 1907 for the Rhine bridge between Ruhrort and Homberg.

When Sylvia puts her Thanner out on the street in "Kuscheltiere", he first moves in with Schimanski and becomes the housewife there. In »Das Haus im Wald«, Thanner finally has a new apartment, very exclusive in the southern tower of the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke with a view of the Rhine.
The series "Hafendetektiv" with Klaus Löwitsch was shot in the same apartment. There was first the Gaalen photo studio, later the apartment of Chief Detective Toffer.
