Singers’ Memorial Melkendorf

On the Hahnberg near Melkendorf is the cenotaph of the Franconian Choir, which was built from 12 columns with white sand-lime brick. It is in a wonderful location and is the only singing honor in Germany.

a critical comment on the system is not content (it is all honorable).purely stylistically an all too colorful mix of style quotations located somewhere between stonehenge, walhalla, gr. tempel, christl. basilica and spear architecture.but taste can of course be disputed.

The singer monument is a memorial for the fallen and deceased singers of Franconia. It was inaugurated in 1953, with the twelve stone pillars corresponding to the circles of the Franconian Choir Association. On the altar-like desk is the Latin inscription "MORTUI VIVIMUS" ("We dead live").
