The Gülichsburg plays a decisive role in the history of Schwerfen. It was built as a proven castle with a moat. The oldest surviving part of the castle was built at the beginning of the 16th century. A beautiful multi-storey building with a steep gabled roof and a wide chimney. In 1638, a squire, Engelbert von Gülich from Berg near Floisdorf, acquired the complex.
