Best routes to Santner Via Ferrata

Tips

  • Very nice climb. Not fully insured with wire rope.

  • A wonderful ring trail starting from Rifugio Stella Alpina with a Difficult “Ferrata” (iron path), actually my first one, right in the middle. The trail starts with a very difficult rise (more than 600 meters) to the Passo delle Coronelle; from there it can be seen a fantastic view of Marmolada. After the descent that was quite difficult because of the presence of the snow (late June), you change view and valley and Latemar with great Lago di Carezza in the distance can be seen. The approach to the Ferrata is quite easy and the iron trail is one of the easiest for beginners. The descent is hard too (more than 700 meters) with some part of the trail quipped with iron ropes because of the great slope. Going down you pass between wonderful Torri del Violet on your left and Catinaccio on the right.

  • A pretty easy via ferrata. BUT: For beginners very exposed (long climbing passages without wire rope, while airy environment ;-). Approach behind the Kölner Hütte. If you already have problems on the small rock wall behind the hut: DO NOT go to Santner!
