October 14, 2018Lörzweiler is a municipality in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the community of Bodenheim. Here is the 175.8 m high Königsstuhl, also called Königstuhl, which has a history-steeped past. On the way from Lörzweiler to Niersteiner Warte there is a large erratic block. The stone with a memorial plaque marks the place where Salier Konrad the Elder was elected King of Germany on September 8, 1024. The spiritual and secular princes of the empire met here after the death of Emperor Henry II for a five-day negotiation and then carried out the election. Since then the hill has been called Lörzweiler Königsstuhl. 🚴♂️This is evidenced by the following aspects: -- Descriptions of the court chaplain Wipo, the election u. Coronation had attended Konrad the Elder
- the proximity to Mainz, where Bishop Aribo performed anointing + coronation.
- the royal seat already mentioned in 1303
- the field name, documented in 1525, "Auf dem Königsstuhl"Since 2015 there has also been a lookout tower behind the boulder, from whose viewing platform you can see the Taunus, Odenwald or Donnersberg. 🚴♂️tourentagebuch.de/sehenswerte/loerzweiler-koenigsstuhl
