"Schmitts Kappelchen" - that's the name of the over 100 year old vineyard house / Spitzhäusje - is located above the Red Slope. It was not until 2015 that two renters brought it into shape inside and out.Tables and benches, and a kind of wooden deck chair next to the house are ideal for resting with the finest views of the Rhine Valley and the Frankfurt skyline.55 million years ago there was a volcanic vent near the Spitzhäusje. Basalt was mined here, among other things, until the mid-19th century. The quarry was later filled in at this point and none of it can be seen.Vulkan bei Nackenheim: wir-in-rheinhessen.de/2012/03/23/ein-gewaltiger-hochexplosiver-vulkanausbruch-bei-nackenheim
