Tips

Here you are standing on the highest elevation in Baden-Württemberg and the highest peak of all German low mountain ranges: the summit of the Feldberg at 1,493 meters. The majority of the Feldberg is under nature protection. The nature reserve is the oldest and largest in Baden-Württemberg. The so-called Feldberg rangers have been looking after the flora and fauna since 1989.

  • It's the highest mountain in the Black Forest. If the weather is right, you can see the Alps very well. Unfortunately, the summit is very crowded when the weather is nice because of the cable car. However, the impressive landscape makes up for it.

  • With the ascent of Feldberg you have climbed the highest mountain of Baden-Württemberg with 1493 m and the highest elevation of all German low mountain ranges. In the nature reserve around the mountain you will find extraordinary plant species. On the Feldberg there is always a stiff breeze that makes you shiver: the annual average temperature is 3.9 ° C and the summit is covered with snow on 157 days of the year.

  • The highest point of the field mountain is not on the Bismarck monument and not on the observation tower. He lies on the other side at the weather station. Here's the point on a platform along with the donation engraving.

  • If you visit the southern Black Forest, you must have been on the Feldberg at least once. That is a duty, so to speak! ;)

  • The highest mountain in Germany allows a breathtaking view.

  • The Feldberg offers one of the most comprehensive panoramas in Germany, especially when there is inversion weather in winter. In the west, beyond the Upper Rhine Graben, you can see the entire Vosges from the Alsatian Belchen to the Donon and the Mont Sainte-Odile (great monastery, visit too!). In the north you can see the Hornisgrinde, in the northeast the entire chain of the Swabian Alb, especially the Lemberg, to the right of which the Hegau volcanoes.
The Alps stretch to the south, from the Alpspitze and the Zugspitze to the east across the Allgäu Alps, the Lechquellengebirge, Verwall Group and Silvretta; then in the Western Alps the Alpstein with the Säntis, the mountains around Lake Walen, the Glarner Alps with Ringelspitz, Glärnisch and Tödi, the Piz Gannaretsch, the Urner Alps, Bernese Alps, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc to the Freiburg Pre-Alps in the southwest. The Swiss Jura stretches out in front of the western Alps and above all to the right of Mont Blanc, with the Chasseral as its highest point. The panorama thus extends from Italy to south-west Germany and from Austria to France.

  • Please, really not underestimate - head coverage, water for the four-legged friend (if there is) and for yourself. Heatstroke, dehydration, exhaustion - these are all reasons why the mountain rescue team is approaching. Better to take care of it. The majority of tourists and visitors come up via the Feldberg cable car from the Haus der Natur and do not stay too long, but from 10 o'clock in the morning the crowd is already large. It's best to book a nice spot for sunrise at 6 o'clock in the morning. The train is not there yet, but you're the first one up. There are some places where you can make yourself comfortable, but generally there is no escape to the left or right in the nature == Bisosphärenreservat, nature conservation. If you have enough stamina and motivation, you should take a look at my lap.

  • The Feldberg was probably once owned by Stuttgarter Hofbräu - they then donated the mountain to the Black Forest Association.

  • The Feldberg is 1493 m above sea level. NHN the highest mountain in Baden-Württemberg. It also represents the highest elevation of all German low mountain ranges, making it the highest mountain in Germany outside the Alps.

  • The Felberg summit offers an exquisite view over the landscape - with good visibility to the Swiss and French Alps. The ascent is not lacking for the lowland Tyrolean, but it's worth it.

  • The lookout tower on the Großer Feldberg has a height of about 40 meters and offers an all-glass viewing platform, which is reached by a closed staircase after about 100 steps.
