The Itter Canal is actually called Oberwasserkanal and begins at the Ittertalsperre, the so-called reservoir.
The Ittertalsperre was built in 1923 to protect against flooding. Some of the stored water is routed via the Oberwasserkanal to the Itter power plant in Eberbach. The lake also serves as a fish pond.
The path leads through the forest along the Itter Canal from the Antonslust to the Itterkraftwerk.
