Just below Nijmegen, on the east but especially on the west side of the Meuse, there is a landscape unique to Europe that is not very well known, but has recently acquired Unesco status: the Maasheggen. In this area, man and blackthorns woven together by humans have been the partitions of meadows for centuries. This provides a diversity in flora and fauna, a special landscape and especially a large number of kilometers of beautiful, quiet country roads and hiking trails. An ideal base for cycling, gravel biking and walking. The location near the Nijmegen lateral moraine offers outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a completely different area in a short time.
