Langwaden Monastery is a Cistercian monastery in the Grevenbroich district of Langwaden. The monastery is surrounded by a natural forest and is close to the Erft. Everyone is welcome in the guesthouse of the monastery, who is looking for relaxation to body and soul, and who wants to enjoy the monastic atmosphere for a few days or who would like to retreat to contemplation. The small beer garden is ideal for a short break during the hike and bike tour.

The monastery was founded in 1145 as a Premonstratensian monastery. This building was built in 1693. After secularization, the building was given to the French officer and diplomat Nicolas-Joseph Maison. Sells Maison, who demolished the monastery chapel in 1830 and had the three monastery wings redesigned into a palace complex. During the Nazi era, the building was used as a labor camp and after the war as an emergency shelter for refugees. Since 1964 until today monks have lived here again, but this time Cistercians.
