The parish church “St. Nikolaus ”dominates the landscape of Reichling, as it stands at the highest point of the village (736 meters). The church had to be demolished in 1779 due to considerable structural damage. In the years 1779/80 the new parish church was built. The equipment was delayed in some cases by up to 23 years. From an earlier church in the new building of the 18th century, Romanesque foundations in the tower and on its basement Gothic pointed arch friezes have been preserved.

In 1173 a first pastor in Reichling is documented. At that time, the Bavarian dukes held the right of patronage. In 1551, Duke Albrecht V gave the parish to the Augustinian monastery of Bernried on Lake Starnberg. Today's church was built in 1779/80 according to plans by the Munich master mason Franz Anton Kirchgrabner. The former choir tower was included in the new building and increased by the bell storey.
