Bray Tower was built by the British as a signal point in the Napoleonic Wars (1815). It was used again in the second world war as part of the Coast Watching Service. Take a good look at the ground around you to find another historical artefact, the remnants of the word EIRE, crafted from large stones to let wartime planes know their location.

Hiking

At 238m Bray Head is a dedicated Marilyn. I didn't have a good weather day here on my visit which is a pity as the island looks beautiful. A good reason to return.
