The cemetery of the Jewish community in Aufhausen was probably laid out soon after the first mention of Jewish residents in Aufhausen in 1560. When the Jews were expelled from Baldern in 1658, they took the gravestones from their cemetery with them and placed them in the Aufhausen Jewish cemetery. Today they form the oldest part of the tombstones in the cemetery.
Burials took place in the 41.43 acre cemetery until 1940. Today there are still 363 tombstones (mazewot) in the cemetery. Jews from Bopfingen and Lauchheim were also buried until 1936, and Jews from Ellwangen until 1901.
