  • ROBERT, mit dem Rad & Hund durchs Land.

The heap Rheinelbe (also called Himmelstreppe) is about 100 m above sea level. NN high [1] accessible and passable mountain dump in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf. It is located at the Leithestraße in Gelsenkirchen. The Halde Rheinelbe is very popular with dirt bike, downhill and freeride riders, who have built various routes over time to drive off the beaten track.

A must-climb for art and 360° views across the post-industrial landscape from the Halde Rheinelbe spoil tip with Stairway To Heaven - Himmelstreppe sculpture by Herman Prigann de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halde_Rheinelbe

A cool, slightly surreal location on the bare, uncovered heap of cones. From the top you have a great view of the dump landscape of the Ruhr area.

Artwork made of old concrete blocks. Climb? At least some "artists" do it, as the many graffiti show.

The Rheinelbe heap is easy to walk because it is not too high. You can bike or walk up almost to the top. The last climb goes over the so-called Himmelsleiter a staircase with a few steps, which ends directly at the top of the monument like sculpture on Rheinelbe was at the beginning of 2019 certainly unlawful, but nicely sprayed sprayed with silver paint. It is still unclear whether the artist will agree with it permanently.
