Tips

The Kersdorfer lock is very historical and has been extensively renovated in recent years. From the lock bridge you can watch the bustle of incoming and outgoing ships well.

The Kersdorfer lock is technically interesting and offers a good opportunity to rest briefly and to look at a lock process.

Here, he gives two lock chambers, a historical edition in which the gate is moved vertically with chains and a modern design with hydraulic htps: //komoot.de/invite-tour/11751053? Code = csozrr-CJj7QqKYWbVAChfJFmLTSEVbMrME0-Qs-4i Zc1Wre0 gates.

The lock is an interesting building and with a little luck you can experience a lock during a break.

The northern chamber is modernized. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer ships are coming.

Beautiful lock system, right on the Spree Cycle Path and the Oder-Spree Canal.
The following path is a very nice section between the canal and the Spree.

This is one of the oldest locks in operation in Brandenburg. The south chamber (on the right in the picture) is still almost original and short. The north chamber (left in the picture) is a new building and significantly extended. Each of the 4 lock gates has a different design and there is an exhibition in the lock house and the history of the Oder-Spree Canal that you can visit. At least again when Corona is over.

The first section of the Oder-Spree Canal ends at the Kersdorfer Schleuse. From here, the Spree is navigable for cargo shipping. Shortly behind the lock, a good 200m behind the bicycle bridge, the Drahendorfer Spree joins, visible on the left in the photo. In the lock area there is a museum on the Schleuse / Oder-Spree Canal as successor to the Friedrich Wilhelm Canal. Originally 13 locks were replaced by only 2.
