The pretty market square of Hoyerswerda has a lot of history. The town hall, with its Renaissance facade and golden town hall clock, dates from 1449 and is a listed building. If you look around further, you will find the pillar of the course Saxon post milestone. Move a little closer to them, because then you can see Prussian mileage on their surface. The column has stood in this exposed position since 1730.The striking Sorb Fountain nearby reminds of the time when the area around Hoyerswerda was Sorbian.

It is thanks to a fortunate circumstance that the town hall and the houses to the north of the market square survived the last days of the Second World War almost intact. So the citizens of Hoyerswerda retained a small piece of jewelery in the center of the old town. The listed building with renaissance facade and portal dates from 1449 and is crowned by a gold town hall clock.
