The Bernstein castle ruins are about 560 meters above sea level and, like most hilltop castles, offer an excellent panoramic view of the surrounding area.
The tower can be climbed.

The building material for the castles was carved out of the rock in the Middle Ages directly in front of the new building at that time. At the same time, as the stones for the building were extracted, a ditch was created around the castle complex. If you look at the area around Bernstein Castle, you can still see the traces of the stone carvers of that time today. The traces (holes in a row) of the chisels are clearly visible in various places.
At the marked point you can see how the stones for building the castle were extracted from the rock that had grown. Here you can even see how the stone carver at the time tried to shape a so-called boss stone out of the rock. The Bossenstein is not quite finished yet and is still connected to the grown rock.
