The source area of the Menzenschwander Alb lies on the southern slope of the Feldberg massif in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, that of the Bernauer Alb on the southern slope of the Herzogenhorn. After both streams have flowed through their namesake places, Menzenschwand and Bernau in southeastern direction, they unite after about 12 and 11 kilometers at the glass saws to the Alb.
