Dollnstein is located in the middle of the Altmühltal nature park. The small town is surrounded by a medieval defensive wall. You are standing here in front of the north gate with the battlement. In the center you will find many half-timbered houses and the Jura houses that are often built in the Altmühltal. A very nice ensemble.

The northern gate tower, popularly known as "Petersturm", bears the coat of arms of Prince-Bishop Wilhelm von Reichenau. Next to the tower, part of the timbered battlement that originally ran along the inside of the wall was reconstructed.
