        Burgstein Rock
        The tower-like rock is one of the most beautiful Bavarian geotopes—selected by the Bavarian Geological Office. The striking rock formation of the Burgstein is part of a limestone platform deposited in a subtropical shallow sea during the Upper Jurassic period.
        Limestone globules, up to two millimeters in size and formed only in moving water, are an essential component of the rock structure of the Plattenkalk. The Burgstein Rock was carved out by the constant work of the Urdonau and Altmühl.
