Best Hikes to Süntelstein Menhir

Tips

  • Impressive stone four meters high - a relic from the Neolithic Age. All around there are benches to rest.

  • The Süntelstein (also called the Teufelsstein or Sonnenstein) is a menhir in a small clearing in the Steenshöhe/Wiehengebirge in the Belm district of Vehrunge (Osnabrück Land) in Lower Saxony. The name Süntel today only refers to an eastern ridge in Lower Saxony, but was apparently previously used for the entire Wiehengebirge, Wesergebirge and Süntel mountain ranges - so the Süntelstein would be in the western part of the Süntel.
