An almost mystical old church ruins in the heart of the old town of Treysa. A detour here is definitely worth it, I was here for the first time at dusk and the atmosphere was indescribable, the magic of the past casts a spell over you. After 7 p.m., access is officially prohibited.

The Church of the Dead is a ruined church in Treysa and is considered a landmark. It is under monument protection. The church was built as the last large basilica at the end of the 12th century, i.e. in the transition period from Romanesque to Gothic, and was completed around 1265. Until the 16th century it was dedicated to the town parish church of Treysa and St. Martin. Treysa was the center of an ecclesiastical "Send" district, which included more than 30 villages, and was under the deanery of Amöneburg of the archideaconate of the St. Stephan monastery in Mainz in the archdiocese of Mainz.Source:
