Saint Hubert, to whom this church is dedicated, lived from 655 to 727 and is a very popular saint, known primarily as the patron saint of hunters. A stag with a glowing cross between its antlers is said to have appeared to him, which is often depicted in portraits of Hubert. This legend was originally attributed to Saint Eustace and over time has migrated to Hubertus. His feast day in the calendar of saints is November 3rd.
