RAVeL 39 Moresnet Railway Path

Simply great to enjoy the surroundings or to get from A to B on beautiful paths. People like to ride their bikes here.

It is very nice to cycle here. Since the end of April 2021, the gravel cycle path over the former railway line 39 has been replaced by asphalt. RAVeL 39 connects to RAVeL 38 near Hombourg. RAVeL is French for Réseau Autonome des Voies Lentes, and stands for roads (not accessible to car traffic) built over towpaths and railway tracks.

In the country of the Three Frontiers, it crosses Hombourg and Plombières through the future railway museum installed on the old Hombourg station.
It has been refurbished with a view to bringing together a collection of old train carriages in a station and on completely renovated tracks.At Plombières, line 38 joins the old line 39 coming from Montzen via Moresnet (with a branch to La Calamine under the Moresnet viaduct).It crosses the Plombières mine site, where it leads from the intersection of line 38 towards Gemmenich and at this point joins line 24, which is still in operation, near the site of the three country points from which one can reach Aachen
