Among South Baden racing cyclists, the Kande is considered one of the toughest mountains in the southern Black Forest. At least the numbers bear that out. With 12 kilometers and an average gradient of 8.2%, the ascent from Waldkirch does not need to hide at all from legendary Alpine climbs such as Alpe d'Huez and is roughly in the same league.
