In the rock group "Lindenstein" the granular granite appears open to light. About 330 million years ago, a quartz-rich molten rock crystallized 10 to 15 km below the surface of the earth and formed this rock. It consists mainly of feldspar, quartz and mica. The today's form of the rocks developed by the so-called "Wollsack weathering". The upper parts on the ridge were torn into blocks and rounded off by the subsequent chemical weathering.
