Kuno-Fischer-Platz was initially laid out together with Dernburgplatz in 1905 by the municipal garden inspector Ludwig Neßler to decorate the new, upscale residential area on the Lietzensee, but was redesigned in 1912/13 by his successor, garden director Erwin Barth. The name is reminiscent of the Heidelberg philosopher Kuno Fischer. At that time, the green area stretched from Kuno-Fischer-Straße to the lake shore. Barth divided it into three sections. At the top he laid out a terrace with a lawn parterre, rose beds and laburnum, a little lower down another terrace where a group of fauns by Gerhard Janensch stood in the middle of a colorful flowerbed, and he designed the slope towards the lake as a lawn.

From 1928 to 1930, Barth saw the construction of the administrative building of the miners' trade association on the uppermost of his garden terraces (architect Rudolf Hartmann). To compensate, according to a design by Barth's successor Felix Buch, the remaining garden hidden behind the house was widened to the south to about twice its size. Buch kept the structure of a now narrower upper terrace at the house, a wider lower terrace and the lawn slope. The sculpture was moved to the side.

The square in front of the building of the former miners' liability insurance association is a garden monument. The small terraced garden was created in 1912 by Erwin Barth. Remodeled by Felix Buch from 1928-30.
