Wittelsbacher Platz with the equestrian monument presented here is considered to be the most beautiful classical square in Munich. In the run-up to Christmas, the monument is "built up" by the city's most famous medieval Christmas market.

Brothers were Philip of Bavaria, Bishop of Regensburg and Cardinal, Ferdinand of Bavaria, Archbishop of Cologne, Bishop of Münster, Liège and Paderborn, and Albrecht of Bavaria, Landgrave of Leuchtenberg.
