It's nice that you can walk or drive on both sides of the Rhine-Herne Canal. We particularly noticed on this tour that the heavy ships pushed almost silently through the canal. The usual engine noise could not be heard.👍

"... Oberhausen Castle and the grounds of the Kaisergarten are directly adjacent to the Rhine-Herne Canal. The canal is part of the northwest German canal network and is 45 kilometers long with a height difference between Duisburg and Herne of 36 meters. The structure was built in 1914 in Commissioned as a connection between the Dortmund-Ems Canal and the Rhine.
