The Nuremberg lock is a lock on the Main-Danube Canal, two kilometers north of the port of Nuremberg. It was built from June 1968 to November 1971 as part of the construction of the canal and opened on October 30, 1970. It is designed as a savings lock with three savings pools southwest of the lock pool.
The lock has its own command station, but has been operated remotely from the WSV's regional headquarters in Kriegenbrunn since 2007. The locks Eibach, Kriegenbrunn and Erlangen are also controlled from there. From 2024, twelve locks will be controlled from the Nuremberg control center, and later all 16 channel locks.
