Heiligendamm has had a train station since 1886. As the number of visitors increased, a larger reception building with a waiting room was built in 1934.
Heiligendamm station is the crossing station in the summer months, because this is where the Molli always meets its oncoming train, since the route between Bad Doberan and Kühlungsborn is single track.
