“Ceci n'est pas un château” is emblazoned in gold letters on the facade of the reconstructed Potsdam City Palace, which was destroyed in 1945 and in which the Brandenburg state parliament has been meeting since January 22, 2014. The interior of the new building, like the plenary hall, is modern and pragmatic in terms of its function and time of construction. During the week you can also use the state parliament canteen, recommended in summer due to the roof terrace with a view.

“Potsdam City Palace” describes several similar buildings on today's Old Market in the city center of Potsdam since the 17th century. Today's palace is an exterior reconstruction of the original Knobelsdorff's, which was destroyed and removed in the mid-20th century and was considered one of the main works of Frederick Rococo due to its magnificent interior. In contrast, the current building, which serves as the seat of the Brandenburg State Parliament, consistently takes the functional requirements of a parliament building into account with the simple, white style of its interior.

The state parliament building is very well located and there is a lot to discover. Opposite is the pleasure garden with the fountain of Neptune. The investors of the WEISSE FLOTTE Potsdam. The steamship Gustav can also be booked for a trip. The Friendship Island is also within walking distance and invites you to relax.
If you have time, I definitely recommend the Dutch Quarter, the village of Alexandrowka with the Museum Alexandrowka, the New Garden and the Belvedere Pfingstberg.
