Potsdam City Palace describes several similar buildings since the 17th century on today's Old Market in the city center of Potsdam. Today's castle is an outward reconstruction of the destroyed and worn-out knobelsdorff's original of the middle of the 20th century, which was considered one of the main works of the Frideric Rococo because of its magnificent interior design. In contrast, today's building, which serves as the seat of the Brandenburg Landtag, consistently reflects the functional requirements of a parliament building with the simple white style of its interior design.
"Ceci n'est pas un château", emblazoned in golden letters on the façade of the 1945 destroyed, reconstructed Potsdam City Palace, in which the Brandenburg State Parliament since 22 January 2014. The interior of the new building, like the plenary hall, is also modern and pragmatic in function and time of origin. During the week you can also use the canteen of the Diet, recommended in the summer due to the roof terrace with a view.
