The Russian colony Alexandrowka is located in the north of the city of Potsdam. King Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia had it built in 1826/27 for the last twelve Russian singers of a formerly 62 soldiers existing choir.
Due to the family and friendly relations between the houses Hohenzollern and Romanov, the colony was named as a memorial to the deceased in 1825 Tsar Alexander I. As part of the Potsdam cultural landscape the colony is UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.Wikipedia
