Pula is the largest city of Istria County and it's well-known for its multitude of ancient Roman buildings. The most famous is the Pula Arena, the symbol of the city and one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters. It was the administrative center of Istria from ancient Roman times until superseded by Pazin in 1991.
