About Trans Balkan Race
The Trans Balkan Race is an off-road unsupported bikepacking race across the Balkans.
The route changes each year and is about 1300 km for 27000 m of climbing, crossing Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, and Montenegro. This event proposes a fascinating race in a region that is still perceived as remote and inaccessible. It's an unforgettable journey across karstic landscapes and thick forests through the history of the Ex-Yugoslavia. The Trans Balkan Race presents unique challenges such as extreme temperature ranges, rough riding surfaces, scarce water availability, and distant resupply points, offering one of the hardest races worldwide.

We woke up on the last day of our Icelandic adventure with a bright sun shining in a cloudless sky. One last river cross - and about 40 km of lunar landscapes) laid in between us and the very first human outpost. After almost 4 days in the highlands, we were excited for some proper food (and maybe ice…

On the morning of Day 6, Iceland decided to surprise us with the biggest of all gifts: snow. As we woke up, everything was covered with a thin layer of white, soft snow. With a long day ahead, we were anxious about starting the ride. The night before, we had compared weather forecasts: ours was very optimistic…

We expected day 5 to have the worst weather, and let me start by saying the forecast kept its promises. We set off from Dyngiufell mountain hut at 8 and slowly began to crawl through lava fields and sand. "Yesterday lava fields were waaay harder" I began to think. And there it was: Iceland decided to…

We left the comfort of Akureyri and began the long approach to the F26. The plan was simple: 360 km on the highland roads, in and out in the fastest time possible to avoid potential storms or worst, the infamous Icelandic winds. We had little to no idea of which challenges the terrain might have held…

We woke up to a brief shower. The weather forecast promised more rain throughout the day, so we quickly packed and left for an all-tarmac transfer ride to Akureyri. Riding through the Tröllaskagi peninsula, high pinnacles with gentle slopes filled the landscapes. Tröllaskagi is Iceland's area with the…

179 km into the trip, day 2 surprised us with more rain. What was supposed to be our first encounter with glacial landscapes proved to be a long leg into freezing fog. We could barely see 50 m from the front wheel.Roughly 10 km after the start, the paved road turned into a nice gravel path - not exactly…

Our Icelandic adventure starts directly from Keflavik airport. Luca managed to link it through gravel and quiet secondary roads to Reykjavik suburbs, where we collected a pre-ordered gas canister for the trip.We bravely started with bib shorts - but we soon came to realize leg warmers would hardly leave…

One more weekend in the mountains! Even though weather forecasts were not optimistic, we decided to venture once again on a peak hunt.
We ended up roaming on the border between Italy 🇮🇹and Austria 🇦🇹. And we got lost on an abandoned track too!
