One of the classic peaks of the Brecon Beacons. While this is the summit trig point, the summit proper, which is cairned, is some 400m NE. Much quieter than the central section of Pen y Fan across the valley. Fan Fawr, at 734m, is not the biggest peak in the Brecon Beacons by any means, but it has some of the best lofty views out there. It has all of the Brecon Beacons views, but none of the central section crowds. It is high enough to be a good hefty challenge but is also a comfortable hike that is easily accessible from the A470 at Storey Arms.

Impressive trig point but not the summit of Fan Fawr. Normally would touch the trig pillar... but not on an icy day like this !
