Chapel in Hirnholz (Unterboihingen)

The small church in Unterbohingen looks fantastic in the evening!

The chapel has paintings inside. These have been restored as best as possible.

The chapel is also called “To Our Lady in the End Wood”.
The church was probably built before the year 1100. At least the foundation walls of today's tower speak for this. It was not until the 15th century that a church was built in the center of Unterboihingen. The name St. Columban was transferred and the old cemetery church has since been called “Chapel of Our Lady in Hürnholz”. The name refers to the most famous woman in Christianity: Mary, Mother of God. Many churches have been named after her directly or, as here, indirectly. Thanks to the wall paintings discovered during renovation work in 1971/72, it is not only an art-historical gem of the city; it continues to be used as a place for church services and devotions.
