There has been evidence of a hermitage here since the 17th century. The chapel was built in wood in 1413 and in stone in 1463. In 1777 it was redesigned in the Rococo style. Window in the shape of a bass violin. A replica of the “Savior with the Shoulder Wound” can be seen behind an iron grille. The original is kept in the Bogenberg District Museum.

St. Salvator comes from Latin and means: Savior, Healer [Savior], Redeemer. Salvator churches are often incorrectly attributed to one person, namely the canonized Franciscan monk Salvator von Horta. As a rule, Salvator churches are entirely dedicated to the example of Jesus Christ, who is called upon for help in times of need and when the burden is particularly heavy.

The Salvatorkirche (also: Salvatorkapelle) in the complex of the Old Town Hall in Vienna was built in the 14th century. In 1871 it was handed over to the Old Catholic Church and has been the Episcopal Church of the Old Catholic Church of Austria ever since. Until then it served as the town hall's house chapel.
