The Protestant St. Petri Church is a hall church from 1933 and 1934. Although the place was first mentioned in documents in 1244, the residents did not build their own religious building for many centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century, there was an economic boom, as a result of which a church was built for the first time. Under the direction of the Stettin architect Rudolf Sack, craftsmen built a sleek hall building. The shape of its church tower is reminiscent of a lighthouse.

The church in Mönkebude is located on the southwest bank of the Szczecin Lagoon in the Haff Coast nature reserve. The Ueckermünde Heath area begins in the south and west of the municipality. St. Petri Church was built in 1933/1934 as the first church building in the approximately 750-year-old town.

The church building is oriented east-west on a trapezoidal area between a state road and a local traffic route about 1000 m from the lagoon bank. The tower is 18 meters high, including the cross. The church is built of brickwork (wall thickness: nave 50 cm, tower 62.5 cm) as a simple, single-aisled hall church (roof pitch approx. 45°), with a recessed wooden beam ceiling and barrel-vaulted choir. A photovoltaic system was installed on the south side of the roof (2002-2004). The church tower, with its octagonal spire, resembles a lighthouse with a viewing gallery.
