The old manor house, affectionately called "Glinder Schloss" by the old Glinde residents, is located in the center of town, amidst a partially preserved park, but also surrounded by high-rise buildings from the 1970s.
The date and year of its construction have so far remained a mystery to historians.
It was built around 1880, after the Hamburg patrician and lawyer Dr. Edward Bartels Banks purchased the lands of the Glinde estate at auction in October 1879.
