The historic old town is located on the "balcony of Hohenlohe" and offers beautiful views of the Hohenlohe plain and the Waldenburg mountains on both sides. You should not miss the unique view from the Lachnersturm. After climbing around 100 medieval steps, your gaze will sweep far beyond the ensemble of charming houses to the beautiful surroundings. A journey of discovery can begin in the courtyard of the picturesque castle and lead far out into the healthy nature surrounding Waldenburg. Rare and protected plants, such as the wild tulip or native orchids, are evidence of a landscape that welcomes the responsible hiker at a series of lakes as well as in the "Obere Weide" nature reserve. Idyllic views of green slopes, babbling streams and wide valleys with a rich floral splendor are popular destinations for relaxing walks. The moderate altitude of Waldenburg (505 m) and the large forests around it guarantee the pure, fresh air of the state-approved climatic health resort.Source: Homepage of the city of Waldenburg
