The Vorderer Kirchstein is often climbed because it is part of the transition from the Brauneck to the Benediktenwand. Today the Vorderer Kirchstein (1,670 meters) and the Hinterer Kirchstein (1,667 meters) share the same name. Although the Hinterer Kirchstein is only a few meters away, it is climbed much less often. There is a wonderful view from both peaks and the green summit meadow is always an inviting place to take a rest.
